Mumbai, Jun 18 (PTI) The rupee pared its initial losses and settled for the day 14 paise higher at 94.36 (provisional) against the US dollar, as the US and Iranian Presidents signed the peace agreement, boosting global market sentiments. Forex traders said market sentiments were buoyant after the United States and Iran electronically signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities and creating a framework for negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme. Mumbai, Jun 18 (PTI) Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended in positive territory on Thursday, rallying for the fifth straight session, supported by encouraging developments on the geopolitical front and easing crude oil prices. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 254.36 points, or 0.33 per cent, to settle at 77,409.98. During the day, the benchmark hit a high of 77,492.33 and a low of 76,953, gyrating 539.33 points. Thrissur (Kerala), Jun 18 (PTI) Union Minister Suresh Gopi on Thursday said that the fuel prices cannot be reduced immediately when the rate of global crude comes down as it involves many factors, including the time taken for the cheaper oil to reach India. Mumbai, Jun 18 (PTI) Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty drifted lower in early deals on Thursday, but later bounced back to trade higher supported by encouraging developments on the geopolitical front and easing crude oil prices. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 111.23 points to 77,044.39 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty dipped 26.85 points to 24,058.85. However, later both the benchmark indices recovered their early lost ground and were quoting in the green.
