US border patrol agents arrest 30 Indian nationals living illegally in America

New York, Dec 24 (PTI) US border patrol agents have arrested 30 Indian nationals, living illegally in America, operating semitrucks with commercial driver’s licenses. Border Patrol agents in the El Centro Sector in California arrested 49 illegal immigrants with commercial driver’s licenses during vehicle stops at immigration checkpoints and in interagency operations, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a statement last week. Between November 23 and December 12, agents apprehended 42 illegal individuals operating semitrucks with commercial driver’s licenses while travelling on interstate or traversing immigration checkpoints. Rupee rises 5 paise to settle at 89.63 against US dollar

Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) The rupee rose 5 paise to settle at 89.63 against the US dollar on Tuesday on the back of a weaker greenback. However, a rise in global crude oil prices, coupled with foreign capital outflows, prevented sharper gains in the local unit, according to forex traders. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 89.67 and traded in the range of 89.58-89.85 before settling at 89.63 against the greenback, up 5 paise from its previous close. Sensex slips 42 pts after two-day rally; IT, pharma shares fall on profit-taking

Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) Benchmark stock index BSE Sensex slipped by 42 points in a volatile trade on Tuesday following profit-taking in IT and pharma shares and mixed global cues. Snapping the two-day gaining streak, the 30-share BSE Sensex dipped 42.64 points or 0.05 per cent to settle at 85,524.84. The index moved in a range during the day, hitting a high of 85,704.93 and a low of 85,342.99. The 50-share NSE Nifty closed marginally up by 4.75 points or 0.02 per cent to 26,177.15. Metals, FMCG and energy shares witnessed buying interest, while IT and pharma saw selective pressure.
