Washington [US], September 26 (ANI): According to a recent study, close family marriages, or consanguinity, may raise the chance of developing common conditions including type 2 diabetes and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In order to investigate the association between autozygosity, a measure of genetic relatedness between an individual’s parents, and the prevalence of common diseases, researchers from the Wellcome Sanger Institute and their collaborators at Queen Mary University of London used a novel method that minimises confounding resulting from sociocultural factors.
