NEW YORK, October 14, 2023 (Reuters) – At Columbia University in US on Thursday, two groups of hundreds of students tensely faced each other in dueling pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations, while university officials blocked public access to the New York City campus as a safety measure. Supporters of Palestinians, many of whom wore face masks to hide their identities, held signs in a grassy area near a library that read “Free Palestine” and “To Exist is to Resist.” About 100 feet (30 meters) away, students backing Israel silently held up posters with the faces of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas.

Finance Minister says Middle East conflict raises fuel price concerns

MARRAKECH, Morocco, Oct 13 (Reuters) – Many emerging market countries are concerned about the impact on fuel price due to the recent crisis in the Middle East, India’s Finance Minister said on Friday, detailing the discussions held by G20 finance leaders in Marrakech. Referring to the Israel-Hamas conflict, Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The recent crisis in the Middle East, and concerns about fuel back again, are worries which many countries do hold and they have expressed as well.” The G20 finance leaders are meeting on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meeting in Marrakech. India’s foreign exchange reserves drop for 5th week; fall to over 5-month low

MUMBAI, Oct 13 (Reuters) – India’s foreign exchange reserves declined for a fifth straight week and stood at $584.74 billion as of Oct. 6, the lowest in more than five months, data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) showed on Friday. That was a decrease of $2.17 billion from the previous week. Reserves had fallen by a total of nearly $12 billion in the prior four weeks. New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) Experts worldwide are calling on governments and health systems to acknowledge that male infertility may be increasing worldwide. They have provided a first-time roadmap for urgent, global action to address the common yet serious medical condition in a consensus report that includes recommendations and is published in the journal Nature Reviews Urology.
