Maharashtra MLC Elections: Voting underway, 12 candidates in fray for 11 seats

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 12 (ANI): The voting for the Maharashtra Legislative Council Elections is underway at Vidhan Sabha for the 11 seats of the Council and will go on till 4 pm on Friday. A total of 12 candidates are in the fray. The elections come just months ahead of the Assembly elections slated to take place in the state later this year. Ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, BJP’s MLC candidate Pankaja Munde visited and offered prayers at Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. The BJP has fielded five candidates, its allies Shiv Sena and the NCP two each.

New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the now scrapped excise policy case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna referred to his petition challenging his arrest by the ED to a larger bench. Supreme Court while granting interim bail to Kejriwal in the ED case observed that the Delhi Chief Minister has suffered incarceration of 90 days and it’s conscious that he is an elected leader.
