Cabinet approves 3% hike in DA/DR for Central Govt employees, pensioners ahead of Diwali; now stands at 53%

New Delhi, October 16, 2024 : The Union Cabinet has cleared a 3% hike in DA on Wednesday, benefitting 49.18 lakh central government employees and 64.89 lakh pensioners, ahead of the Diwali festive season this year. The raise takes the DA now to 53% of the basic salary with effect from July 1, 2024. During a press briefing after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Dearness Allowance (DA) hike was effective from July 1, 2024. India withdraws envoy, diplomats named ‘persons of interest’ in Canada probe

NEW DELHI, Oct 14 (Reuters) – India withdrew its envoy to Canada on Monday along with other officials and diplomats who Ottawa named as “persons of interest” in a matter related to an investigation in the country, the foreign ministry said. New Delhi rejected the “preposterous imputations” of the Canadian assertion, made in a diplomatic communication on Sunday, saying it was part of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “political agenda” centred around “vote bank politics”. Food pushes India’s retail inflation to nine-month high in September

NEW DELHI, Oct 14 (Reuters) – India’s retail inflation in September accelerated to its highest in nine months, due to higher food prices, according to government data released on Monday.
