ED questions former Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda in money laundering case

New Delhi, Jan 17 (PTI) Former Haryana chief minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda was on Wednesday questioned by the ED in connection with a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in land acquisition at Manesar during 2004-07, official sources said. The agency recorded the statement of the 76-year-old Hooda under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said. The Enforcement Directorate probe pertains to “illegal” acquisition of land in Haryana’s Manesar between 2004 and 2007 with the alleged connivance of senior government functionaries and bureaucrats. New Delhi, Jan 17 (PTI) The layer of early-morning fog over the Indo-Gangetic plains in north India thinned in some parts on Wednesday, officials said. Satellite imagery showed a reduction in fog over Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, northern Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. However, dense fog continues to prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Mumbai, Jan 17 (Reuters): A cold wave bringing dense fog this week to parts of northern India disrupted flights for a fourth straight day on Wednesday, delaying more than 100 and forcing cancellations of about 20. Weather authorities forecast five more days of fog, with minimum temperatures on Tuesday ranging from 2 degrees Celsius to 5 C (35.6 degrees Farenheit to 41 F) in New Delhi, the capital, and the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh.
