Imphal, Jan 3 (PTI) Former union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla took oath as the 19th governor of Manipur during a function at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday. Bhalla was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur Justice D Krishnakumar. He inspected the guard of honour by Manipur Rifles personnel. Bhalla, who has the rare distinction of being the longest-serving union home secretary, completed his five-year tenure in August last year. Dense smog shrouds Delhi, threatening to disrupt flights

NEW DELHI, Jan 3 (Reuters) – Thick smog engulfed the Indian capital on Friday, prompting warnings of possible flight disruptions from airport and airline officials, as worsening air quality cut visibility to zero in some areas. Delhi, which has been battling smog and poor air quality since the beginning of winter, ranked third among the world’s most polluted capitals in Friday’s live rankings by Swiss group IQAir.
