Supreme Court stays ex-IPS officer’s sentence in Dhoni’s contempt plea

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Monday granted an interim stay on the 15-day simple imprisonment given by the Madras High Court to retired IPS officer G Sampath Kumar in a contempt of court case filed by former team India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A bench of Justices A S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan issued notice on Kumar’s plea against the high court order. The matter has been posted for next hearing on March 8. The high court on December 15 last year had found Kumar guilty of committing criminal contempt and sentenced him to 15-day

New Delhi [India], February 5 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh will not take oath today as the Rajya Sabha Chairman has refused to allow him to take oath as a Member of Parliament. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the matter is currently with the Privileges Committee. Singh has been arrested and charge-sheeted in the Delhi Excise Policy money laundering case. India’s January services growth at six-month high on robust demand -PMI

BENGALURU, Feb 5 (Reuters) – India’s dominant services sector expanded at the fastest pace in six months in January on robust demand, according to a business survey which also showed output prices rose at their slowest rate since February 2023 and optimism was at a four-month high.
