Tougher U.S. sanctions to curb Russian oil supply to China and India

NEW DELHI/SINGAPORE, Jan 12 (Reuters) – Chinese and Indian refiners will source more oil from the Middle East, Africa and the Americas, boosting prices and freight costs, as new U.S. sanctions on Russian producers and ships curb supplies to Moscow’s top customers, traders and analysts said. The U.S. Treasury on Friday imposed sanctions on Russian oil producers Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas, as well as 183 vessels that have shipped Russian oil, targeting the revenues Moscow has used to fund its war with Ukraine. Dhaka, Jan 12 (PTI) Bangladesh Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma over border tensions. The development came hours after Dhaka alleged that India was trying to construct fences at five locations along the Indo-Bangla border, violating a bilateral agreement. Verma entered the foreign ministry around 3:00 pm (local time). His meeting with Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin lasted about 45 minutes, the state-run BSS news agency reported. Paracetamol is perhaps among the most common painkillers in the world. The drug, available without prescription in most pharmacies, can be used to relieve aches, pains and flu-like symptoms. Yet, scientists at the University of Nottingham have warned that it ‘may not be as safe as perceived’. In a study published recently, they claimed that repeated paracetamol doses in older people can give rise to a worsened risk of heart problems, kidney failure and gastrointestinal complications. Mumbai, Jan 12 (PTI) A series of court orders here recently directing for the release of accused citing “illegal arrest” have come as a setback for probe agencies, with prosecution lawyers calling for a balanced approach while defence counsels insist on following norms.
