RBI Supersedes Board of Aviom India Housing Finance, to start bankruptcy process

Jan 27 (Reuters) – The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) said on Monday it has superseded the board of Aviom India Housing Finance due to governance concerns and payment defaults and plans to start bankruptcy proceedings against the company. The RBI has appointed Ram Kumar, the former chief general manager of state-run Punjab National Bank as the administrator for the housing finance company, the bank said. It did not specify the nature of the governance concerns. An email sent to Aviom’s grievance redressal team did not elicit an immediate response. A media contact for the company was not immediately available.

India to ditch privatisation plans, pour billions in state-run firms, sources say

NEW DELHI, Jan 27 (Reuters) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pouring billions into ailing state-run firms after slowing ambitious divestment plans that were intended to reduce the role of the state in business, according to government sources and a document reviewed by Reuters. Less than a month into 2025, New Delhi has plans to invest about $1.5 billion in financial rescue packages for two state-owned firms after failing to sell them to private companies. Former BJP MLA Sengar surrenders as operating doctor not available

New Delhi [India], January 27 (ANI): Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar surrendered before the jail authorities on January 24 as the operating doctor was not available till January 30. Delhi High Court on January 22 granted interim bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who had to undergo cataract surgery at AIIMS in Delhi on January 24. He is serving a life sentence in the Unnao Rape case and ten years imprisonment in a custodial death case. The court also had said that if in any case, it doesn’t take place on January 24, he shall surrender before the concerned jail
