Supreme Court agrees to hear Owaisi’s plea for implementation of 1991 places of worship law

New Delhi, Jan 2 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to consider a plea of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi seeking the implementation of the 1991 places of worship law, which asks to maintain the religious character of a place as it existed on August 15, 1947. A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar ordered that Owaisi’s fresh plea to be tagged with pending cases on the matter and said it will be taken up on February 17 with them. Pak govt reduces pension benefits of retired civil, armed forces personnel

Islamabad, Jan 2 (PTI) The Pakistan government has drastically reduced pension benefits of retired civil and armed forces personnel to reduce a growing pension bill which has already swelled over Rs 1 trillion, according to a media report. The Ministry of Finance on Wednesday issued three separate notifications to discontinue multiple pensions, reducing both the first home take pension and also lowering the base for determining future increases in pensions, The Express Tribune newspaper reported.
