New Delhi, Apr 1 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday asked the government to immediately start the decadal census as well as caste census, saying a large number of people are being left out of welfare schemes due to the delay. Expressing concern over the delay in conducting the decadal census during the Zero Hour in the House, the senior Congress leader said India has been conducting a census every 10 years since 1881. Mumbai, Apr 1 (PTI) Stock markets went into a tailspin on Tuesday with benchmark Sensex plunging by 1,390 points due to selling in IT and private bank shares amid heightened uncertainty ahead of the rollout of reciprocal tariffs by the US on April 2. Starting the new financial year on a losing note, the 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 1,390.41 points or 1.80 per cent to settle at 76,024.51 as 28 of its components ended lower and only two advanced. Rajasthan govt hikes dearness allowance of its employees by 2 pc

Jaipur, Apr 1 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Tuesday approved a 2 per cent increase in dearness allowance of the state government employees. Pensioners will also get a 2 per cent increase in their dearness relief. The move came a week after the central government increased DA and dearness relief of its employees and pensioners by 2 per cent. Chief minister Sharma approved the proposal of the state’s finance department on Tuesday. Now, state employees and pensioners will get 55 per cent dearness allowance with effect from January 1, 2025. The decision will benefit nearly 8 lakh employees

Delhi High Court rejects decision denying HIV positive personnel promotion, appointment in paramilitary forces

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) The Delhi High Court has held that authorities are under a legal obligation to provide “reasonable accommodation” in employment to those suffering from HIV, and rejected the denial of promotion and appointment to three men in the paramilitary forces who were found positive for the virus. In the present case, two petitioners constables in Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force were denied promotion while the third petitioner, a constable on probation in the Border Security Force, was denied appointment in 2023.
