Drinking watermelon juice daily to deal with erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is becoming more common in young men, with a quarter of all those newly diagnosed now under 40.

A doctor has urged men to take a daily drink of watermelon juice to treat erectile dysfunction naturally.

Dr Eric Berg said 30 percent patients taking Viagra to solve the issue report that the medication does not work.

He also claimed there can be side effects to taking the drug and gave an example of penis gangrene which is rare but “does happen”.

Men who have erectile dysfunction have normal hormonal blood readings, so he questioned what is going on?

The Express reports Dr Berg said on his YouTube channel: “The penis is a barometer of something called endothelial health.”

It refers to the cells on the inside of the arteries, veins and lymphatic system.

“Erectile dysfunction is the earliest sign of peripheral artery disease (PAD)”

In half of PAD cases there are no symptoms, but sufferers should watch out for:

  • Cold feet
  • Painful legs
  • Cramping in lower legs
  • Bluish tint or red rash on the lower part of the legs
  • Loss of hair on the lower part of legs.

He added: “Erectile dysfunction isn’t a problem with the penis, it’s with something more extensive than that.

“When getting an erection, there is an inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system (the flight or fight response).”

It is why an erection would be difficult to achieve under feelings of stress.

But because of PAD, there are things you can do to improve the chances of an erection.

And Dr Berg recommends drinking one cup of watermelon juice daily, which is full of nitric acid.

He also encouraged people to make sure the rind is blended as part of the juice.

And to get things going even more, he suggested blending beetroot into the drink too.

This “homemade Viagra” should be part of your daily routine for four to six weeks.

Dr Berg said the next step is to “stop all porn”, nose breathing, and exercising.

And experts believe that a major factor in this rise is performance anxiety triggered by pornography. Dr Catherine Hood, a psychosexual therapist and specialist in sexual medicine, explains: “Pornography is fantasy material that is made for arousal, so it is designed to press all the buttons at once.

“You don’t go and watch a Marvel movie and come out thinking you can fly, but people watch porn and think that’s reality.

“It’s selling an experience that real life can’t match and that sets up quite a poor expectation in young men about what their bodies are capable of. This fuels anxiety around sex and it can become difficult to get an erection as a result of pornography.

“We have also seen a rise in anxiety more generally, particularly in younger adults, and we know this generalised anxiety is often a factor with ED as it becomes another focus for a brain that’s already overthinking a lot, and physiologically, anxiety reduces arousal.”
