Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], October 13 (ANI): An Assistant commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was suspended for allegedly facilitating gold smuggling at Karipur Airport in Kerala, an official statement issued by CISF said.
According to Malappuram police, the accused CISF officer Naveen along with a customs official and an employee involved in handling luggage were co-conspirators.
“Each time a consignment has been brought successfully they get Rs 60,000. Of this Rs 55,000 is given to the Assistant Commandant and he shares it with the customs officer,” police said.
Police said that the three accused were using separate SIM cards to contact each other.
“Four arrests have already been made on the basis of information for smuggling gold. The role of the CISF officer has been found in this investigation,” police said.
Malappuram police have registered a case against the CISF official.
Further investigation is underway.
Earlier a passenger was detained after gold worth Rs 50 lakhs was recovered from his possession at Kochi airport. The gold was recovered in cylindrical-shaped capsules from a passenger who arrived from Jeddah on Sunday.
