Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 14 (ANI): Former National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief A Ravishankar took charge as the new Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner on Thursday.
Ravishankar said his focus will be on issues such as narcotics, ganja smuggling, women’s safety, traffic and cyber security.
He further said, “Steps will be taken concerning the safety of women with the help of police staff.”
“There have been rising crimes of cybercrime and will constitute capacity building teams which will act as trainers for training the staff to tackle cyber frauds relating to cryptocurrency and other related cyber crimes,” he added.
Visakhapatnam is a strategic place in view of the presence of defence establishments in the city.
He said his experience in NIA particularly in anti-terror and intelligence gathering will help him in discharging his duties.
He said the city is emerging as a tourism hub, probably this could be one of the reasons to elevate the commissioner post to the rank of the additional director general of police rank.
