WASHINGTON, December 12, 2025 (AP) — European leaders want to hold further talks on Saturday in Paris, but President Donald Trump says he wants to see more progress before agreeing to dispatch his advisers.
“We’ll be attending the meeting on Saturday in Europe, if we think there’s a good chance,” Trump told reporters when asked about the proposed high-level meeting of leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Ukraine and the United States. “We don’t want to waste a lot of time with it.”
Earlier Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed frustration with the pace of talks. Ukraine continues to balk at a provision in a Trump-authored peace plan that calls for Kyiv to give up land to Russia in the Donbas that Russians haven’t captured.
Leavitt said Trump is “sick of meetings just for the sake of meeting.”
